~Seiffen, Germany~
Here is our cute little town!
Just 30 minutes down the road from Freiberg, Germany.
The last time Cody was here he was 6 years old.
The first order of business was doing some runs on the
Rodelbahn that made the many trips to Seiffen bareable
for our boys-you can only look at so many nutcrackers!
After we all did some warm-up runs, the real runs are
for the next day, we (meaning Jim and I) peaked into
some of the shops and saw crafters still at work.
This man is sanding wood parts.
Both of these women are meticulously painting parts of
nutcrackers and other figures to be put together in stages.
This man had cut out each of these trees
now he is glueing them into their stands.
I always have to visit my green smoker forest
man whenever I make a visit to Seiffen. :-)
This is one of many darling half-timbered
buildings in this sweet city of Seiffen.
The corners of this building add to the
delightful atmosphere of this town.
delightful atmosphere of this town.
We loved our charming hotel room.
The decore was perfect for being in Seiffen!
After settling in our room we came back downstairs
and found an outside table to eat dinner at. It was
so delightful enjoying the pleasant spring evening.
Jim and I sat for an hour after dinner playing cribbage.
I so loved the dining room we ate in for breakfast!
It was so, so....GERMAN!!!
The windows were darling and there were lit bows
all through the room as well as cozy corners with comfy
furniture to enjoy sitting on as we ate a leisurely breakfast.
I told Jim if this was my eating room I would never
get anything done because I would just want to
sit in this room all day long! It was charming.
As I walked up the street to look through the shops
I noticed this sweetly painted Pension with it's
cute shutters decorated with painted flowers.
Cute little reminders outside the shops that
we are really in our Seiffen, Germany village.
Another cute display of crafsmanship!
SO cuute!
Here is the outside of our wonderful hotel we stayed at.
Highly recommended!
Thank you Larsen's for such a great place to stay in!
~The Seiffen Church~
We have wonderful wood replica's of this famous church.
I can still remember Cody taking a picture in front
of this cute, little street sign, at the time he was little
enough to be sitting on Jim's shoulder's!
Cody said this was much BIGGER
the last time he saw it in person! Ha!
One giant pyramid!
Here we are back at the Rodelbahn
for some last runs down the hill.
Cody had to ride with someone on his last trip to Seiffen.
My how he has grown!
Needless to say these two had to make it
a race down the mountain, with the backman
trying to catch up to the one in the front.
Of course there's always a push to the edge,
Cody did not get off unscathed. His high speed
racing had him tilting pretty far which meant
a skinned elbow as a souvenir.
