New Beginnings~

It is a big day in our home!
Tyler, Chandra and Cody get to experience some
new stomping grounds for school this year!

Tyler and Chandra left for Galveston, Texas this morning.
Tyler will begin his next phase of education at the
University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston School of Medicine.
Chandra is excited to continue her current health consulting job,
long distance, and still work with her current clients.

Cody is SO, SO EXCITED to be back in Broomfield, CO!!!

One of the biggest reasons he is excited is he gets to attend BHS,
Broomfield High School, where his 3 older siblings attended
and graduated high school, as well 2 of his cousins.  He's very lucky
getting to attend high school with his cousin Chelsea, a Senior.
It will be a fun year of activities for them to be in school together!
Cody 17, a Junior this year, looks forward to being with old friends,
meeting new ones, and joining the BHS Swim and Dive team.

While Cody headed off to his first day of classes
Chandra and Tyler got into their very full car to
begin the long two day drive to Texas.

There was no room to spare!!!

On to another new fun adventure as Mr. and Mrs. Hedman!

I'm glad the holiday's are not too far away....

Saying Goodbye's~

It was Chandra and Tyler's last day in Colorado before
leaving for Texas the next morning.  They spent much
of the day getting their belongings loaded up and ready
so they could begin the long two day drive on Tuesday.

Grandma treated us all to a dinner at Cinzetti's.

We stopped by the Kaisers to have Chandra and Tyler say
their last goodbye's.  Cody and Shane doing their own thing.

It is definitely a summer of transitions with
 Bryce and Tyler graduating college,
Jim and I moving back from Germany,
Andre' (our nephew) and Michelle getting married,
Chandra and Tyler moving to Texas.
Let's just say it has NOT been a boring summer!

 Cody-17, Chandra-24

I will miss frequent hugs from my sweet daughter!
At least there is no longer a giant ocean between us!!!!

"New" Wardrobe~

We finally received our air shipment from Germany.
It took a bit longer than expected but we are glad
to have some of our belongings arrive at our home.

One of the best things about our air shipment was having
more of our clothes arrive.  We have been surviving on
what small amount of clothes, amongst many other items,
would fit in our suitcases when we flew home July 5th.

Egyptian Ratkiller~

After sending Jim off to Brussels, Belgium and
Bryce and Jessie back to Utah the house got real quiet...

....that is until we played a couple rounds of Egyptian Ratkiller.
Cody smoked us in the first round.

Chandra took us all down, quickly, in the second round.

Day in Denver~

We found fun things to do in Denver for the day.

First order of business was Tyler learning how to make
the traditional Engstrom Swedish pancakes.  He got to break
in his new pan especially for making Swedish pancakes.

 Jim giving instructions.

 Turned out pretty good!

Nothing like a Swedish Pancake breakfast to start the day.
Mmmm, mmmmm!

Jumping on the tramp after breakfast had no
negative consequences for Bryce and Cody.

We went into Denver and we passed a construction
site where someone crocheted flowers along the fence.

 So cute!

A view of the Platte River.

 Denver Colorado State Capitol

We are sitting on the capital's step that
puts us exactly a mile above sea level.

We walked along the 16th street mall to see the sights.

 Chess players.

We then headed North to Longmont to
eat at Dad's favorite rib place.
Bryce ordered a half rib size.

 Chandra and Tyler

Cody ordered a full rib stack...

....and polished it off pretty well.
We ended our great family day swimming,
attending another wedding reception then
relaxing in front of a movie.
I love my family, including my missionary
Elder Engstrom!!!

Kaiser Colorado Wedding Reception~

We enjoyed a lovely evening at
Andre and Michelle Kaiser's Wedding Reception
in Colorodo.

 The receiving line.

We had gorgeous views of the sunset.

Some of the Chandler Clan

Breakfast, Bugs and Boulder~

It's the weekend!!!
With Bryce coming in town and bringing Jessie
with him we were looking forward to some
fun activities together as a family.

While Jim went into work and Bryce to a job interview
the rest of us enjoyed Chandra's delicious french toast.

Bryce returned from his interview with a "friend."
After being in the house for 5 minutes or so Cody
noticed "something" on the back of Bryce's jacket.
As he turned around we gasped (the girls gasped)
to see a Praying Mantis hitching a ride!

We had a hard time getting rid of the thing!

For lunch we headed off to Boulder to eat at Bryce's
favorite burrito place "Illegal Pete's."

Mexican Food is one of Tyler's favorite meals.
He did pretty good getting 3 burritos in one week!

 The "connoisseur" of pocket knives
found his favorite store in Boulder!

Pocket Knife choices were endless in this shop!

Pearl Street walking mall in Boulder.

Cody got so hot walking along Boulder Creek he
decided a plunge from the rope swing was necessaray.

 An easy flip.

 Some fun little cascades.

Dad had been at the KBCO radio stations survey
meeting critiquing music.  We met up with him to
hear the closing band playing their music.
