St. Nicholas Day~

Sunday, December 6th
we celebrated St. Nicholas Day!
The story is that Nicholas was the son
of very wealthy parents.
Nicholas inherited their wealth
and the remainder of his life was
devoted to helping the poor and suffering.

We are told when the children leave their shoes out
the night before St. Nicholas Day they will awake
to find small goodies left in them.

Cody was delighted with his itunes card
and some Turkish Delight!

Aachen, Germany Christmas Market~

I LOVED the Aachen Christmas Market!
It was just the right size surrounding a
beautiful church.
I had to chuckle as I enjoyed German goodies
and German shopping because
at the same time I enjoyed
American Christmas music being played!
What fun that so many countries offer
great holiday traditions enjoyed world wide.

Friday, December 4th, it was a fun day at the
Aachen Christmas Market.
My favorite German Market, so far!

Aachen is known for a unique cookie
they make called Printen's.
It has a gingerbread/licorice flavor to it.

I was enthralled with this
charming water fountain.

You can see the gorgeous church
behind me and Heidi.

Now that's one good sized cookie!

It was the first REALLY COLD day
of the winter.
Shopping certainly can make the
cold not quite so hard to endure.
