German Christmas Delights~

Coreen is enjoying some new and beautiful 

Christmas traditions while living in Germany 

during the Christmas season.

This Advent Candle was bought last year
during the Christmas season then.
Coreen bought it just liking how quaint it was.
Then someone explained to her that it was a
long term version of an Advent Candle.
An Advent Candle is used to help count down
the four Sunday's before Christmas arrives.
So the first Sunday one candle is lit for the evening,
then the following Sunday two candles are lit
until you reach the final Sunday when all the
candles are lit.  Some families sing Christmas songs
as the candles are lit.  Most Advent Candles are in
a wreath made with live garland.
You can buy them everywhere or make your own.

We are also having fun collecting Kinder Punch mugs.

We collect them from each Christmas Market we visit.

Someday we hope our cute little grandkids want to

come and have fun picking a mug and drinking 

hot chocolate with us. :-)

Coreen does realize this thinking is a bit premature....

 Jim and Coreen's Christmas gift to each other is a 

German Village made in Aachen, Germany.

Instead of putting up a Christmas tree, since we 

will be spending our Christmas in the U.S., we

put up our little village to enjoy for the holiday's.

Here it is in the daylight.

 Towards evening we took some shots of 

the village with candles lit up inside.

If you look very closely you can see little lanterns
that are lit up. There are 3 little lights together.

A sweet little village we also hope to enjoy 

with our future grandkids....

We just love it!
