A Day With The Monkey's~

We took a day trip to Holland!
Our first stop was a monkey park we had visited with
all of our children 12 years ago while living in Prague.
Our first visit was a bit more adventursome with the
little spider monkeys climbing on you and trying to
take anything that was loose.  Bryce almost had his
hat taken off to the trees on that trip!

This visit found the monkey's uninterested in the
humans that came to visit them.  We decided this
was because the park had too many things taken by
these crafty little monkey's so they have you put your
items in zipper locked bags you carry around.
Cody was trying to coax this little guy over for a
friendly visit but he was too busy with his own activities.

There were hundreds of these little guys everywhere you walked,
they would walk across your path or climb on a child's stroller
looking for crumbs or goodies.  One did sit on a boys leg momentarily.

We were entertained by this monkey family with
all the little babies crawling everywhere and hopping!

Just across the bridge from the "racoon monkey's" were
many Mama chimps and their sweet little babies, you can
see one snuggled right into her Mama's side as they ate.

When we walked back to the other side of the bridge to
see this family again, they were all curled up and asleep.
It was only 2 minutes later!!

Our very favorite monkey of the day was the
Orangutan!

Here are two Orangutan siblings tussling over a burlap bag.
They reminded me of Kent and Cody as little guys.
The smaller guy had the bag first and the bigger
one came over and pulled it away from his smaller
sibling and then rolled down the hill with it.  The
younger one chased him down and you can see
them wrestling with each other about the bag.

Mama Orangutan marched over to the wrestling two
and pulled the bag away from them as they were
rolling all over each other.  The little one ran back
up to Mama and she gave him the bag.

 Seems familiar.....

Then the older one looked around for something to
do while his little sibling took off with the bag.

He decided to wander back over to where his sibling
was hiding under the bag.  While he was contemplating
his next move he would ocassional glance over
at Mama Orangutan and see if she was looking.

He decided he was going to do some rope swinging,
very conviently close to where the bag was.
After a couple high twirls with the rope he would
reach out and try to grab the bag off of his sibling.
Both attemps failed.

So he just decided to go lay down on his brother,
as if to say "I'm touching the bag."

 He really got relaxed!

Then it was a new wrestling match all over again when
the little one rolled out of the bag tired of being layed on!

While they were wrestling Mama slyly pulled the
bag out from under them...

 ...and then covered herself up!
That might be a nice way to escape squabling kids! Ha!
We were laughing so hard watching the scene unfold!
Just precious!

We decided this little chimp was putting on a show for us.

He had some very impressive poses!

 TA DA!

Here is some Mama Chimps with their babies.

Cody and his friends Imane and Spencer
all had a great day seeing the Monkey Zoo.
