We had quite the flight home from our Christmas break.
Cody and I were waiting at the gate on Friday night
to take the direct flight from Denver to Frankfurt.
The flight ended up being cancelled due to engine
problems. We spent our evening trying to rebook a
flight for the next day to Germany. We returned 7am,
the next morning Saturday, to catch a 3 1/2 hour flight
to Dulles airport in Washington D.C. After a 3 hour
layover in Dulles we boarded the plane to Frankfurt.
We landed at 7am Duestchland time and then hopped
on a long distance, high speed train, to Siegberg where
Jim was waiting to pick us up. We were in our
German home before 10am and soon taking naps!
Here we are ready to pull up and
deboard the train in Siegberg.
This is a much roomier ride than when we
headed to the U.S. at the beginning of our break!
All this open area was packed with people and
baggage, with no room to spair. Once back to
Germany we heard that we got the only window
out of Frankfurt for a few days. Due to weather
problems the Frankfurt airport had been closed the
day before we departed, opened the day we left
for the U.S., then was closed again the next day
Sunday. We were blessed, and didn't even
know it until our return back to Germany!
Yay! I'm glad you made it!
