Unfortunate Event~

Most of us live our daily lives usually without the thought of being hurt or harmed or just not expecting situations that startle our small worlds.
Well, unfortunately Cody had one of those experiences.
Cody had been taking a public bus home from school the week I was in Colorado. The day after my return he chose to still use the bus to bring him into Bad Godesberg. Once off the bus he stopped in the local McDonald's and sent a quick text on his phone. He then noticed someone walking the same direction as he headed home, which was at most a ten minute walk. Cody stopped for a moment, pretending to be busy on his phone again. He noticed the young man stopped as well and seemed to be on a phone also. Then Cody resumed walking again and decided to take a slight variation home. As he turned the corner the young man also turned the same direction. Cody kept walking a few more feet as the young man stayed on the opposite side of the small neighborhood street. A minute or so later Cody saw from his side view the man running at him and then was tackled to the sidewalk. A knife was put to Cody's throat and the man yelled at him, in German, for Cody to give him Cody's iphone. The man then dug it out of Cody's pocket while Cody had a hand up in the air trying to stop two cars driving by. One seemed to be slowing down but could not stop because of the car just behind his. The young man then took off into the woods next to the sidewalk. Cody started to run home then decided to stop and yell for help. By then others were around and heard him crying for help. They could not really communicate with the language difference's. One woman called the police and a girl offered for Cody to use her phone to call home. I immediately drove to where he was at, a one minute car drive, and already found the police and ambulance at the scene. Cody was quite upset and shaking uncontrollably. After hugging him for a moment (which as a mother was frustrating because he wasn't a little guy anymore that I could just wrap in my arms, instead he had to lean down to me and I had to hug him the best I could) we then had him sit in the ambulance until he relaxed. After more questions by the police, as best as we could all communicate, we drove home. We spent the evening at home relaxing with Cody. The next day was a holiday. So it was nice we were all home together. Although it seemed odd at the time, I decided to take pictures of the marks Cody had so he would have the pictures when he told the story to his own children and grandchilren...
Won't he be a "hero" then?!

Under his neck is the mark of the knife.

Along his jaw is another mark,
we can't be sure what that is from.
Someone emailed us after seeing this picture
and said to just put it down as another mark
from the knife, for good measure.
