Essen in Euskirchen~

Today Kent and Mom joined dad for lunch in Euskirchen,
the town where Jim's office/plant is located.

We enjoyed our meal at an Italian restaurant.

 It came complete with carved,
wooden Pinocchio's all around.

Kent in Bad Godesberg~

Kent and I took a walk into Bad Godesberg,
it takes about 5 minutes to walk in to town.
This is the main shopping street in Bad Godesberg.

 Same street, opposite direction.
Not as pretty without the leaves on the trees.

This is a little side street off of
the main shopping street.

This tower is just above our house.

Bring It On!~

After a home cooked meal and an inspirational
Family Home Evening lesson...
We were ready to start some competition with the
board games while eating warm, home baked
chocolate chip cookies, yUMmee!
Dad and Kent decided to pull out the Stratego game.
It had been a few years since this one had been played.
You would think they were about to play chess
by how long Dad took to set up his pieces...

The first game was pretty quick, with Kent winning,
but the stratigic thinking juices got warmed up for
the second game and it was much more challenging.
Dad barely beat Kent, by ONE MOVE!

Next up was Racko.
Mom was the overall champ of this game...
after Jim went to bed.

Sweet Sunday~

We had a great morning at church with uplifting
lessons and hearing Jim's great talk on charity.
Cody and Kent also had the opportunity to bless
the sacrament together for the ward members,
and they didn't mind that it was all in English.
The day was even more rewarding having Alfons
and Lissy, our German friends, join us to hear
Jim's message in Sacrament meeting.
Once home Kent and Cody turned into Fanta fans
 and played computer games together.

BYU Bummer~

BYU is having a great season so far!
Kent was dissapointed to be in Brugge, Belgium
and not be able to go to the BYU-SDSU game
to see BYU's amazing win.
But how many times do you get to be in Belgium....
Kent and Jim all set up Saturday evening to watch the
BYU-New Mexico game hoping to see another win.
Unfortunately BYU lost.

Czech It Out!~

Coreen's Czech friend, she met in her German class,
told her about a local Czech restaraunt.  We were
eager to go try it out while Kent was visiting.
The meal was delicious with tender meat, dark gravy,
and soft dumplings to soak up all the yummy gravy.

Jim was able to use the "10" words he knows in Czech.

We'll have to make a return trip.

New Toy~

Jim and Cody found a new toy
a couple of weeks ago.
They just had to show it to Kent.
 A bread vending machine!

You just push a button and out
pops warm rolls or pretzels.

Cody's partial to the BIG loaves of bread.

Now, to get one of these for our house!

Boy's Burnin' Rubber~

After hearing Cody talk up the Michael Shumacker
race track Kent had to try it out for himself.
 Cody, Jim, Kent

 Kent's giving the thumbs up
and ready to race!

 They're out of the gate!

Kent ahead after the first lap.

Cody and Jim right behind him,
Cody's on the right.

Jim taking the corner, slower than his boys...

Here's Cody flashing by, AHEAD of Kent!

Cody finished with the best time of the three.
Kent's all ready for a rematch next Saturday.

Kent, Bonn again~

Kent joined us in Bonn again, for another visit,
before he enters the mission field in March to serve
in the Czech Republic.
Kent on the square in Bonn, Germany.

BIS vs. The Hague~

After last year's team did so well the Bonn International
School moved up a playing level within the competitive
basketball regions in the area.
BIS's Varsity Basketball Team had weekend games
against the international school from The Hague.
Coach's last minute advice before Friday's game...

 Ready to start!

Saturday's game was a bit more intense, The Hague's
team was frustrated they had lost the night before.

Looking good on the defense, but
need to be stronger on the offense guys.

Again we won!
Fun to see them win while at home
and while Kent is visiting.
